Back in June, I was fortunate enough to meet new children's/YA author Sarah Beth Durst, whose debut, Into the Wild, has garnered fulsome praise from the likes of NYT Bestselling author Tamora Pierce and the amazing Bruce Coville. Now I've got her book in hand and while I'm reading it--it's really quite delightful and has a great cover--I thought it would be a good idea to interrogate Durst about Into the Wild and the experience of being a first-time novelist. I wish I could say that I'm at a cafe, slurping down lattes while wearing a black turtleneck and beret like a proper author. But I eavesdrop way too much to be able to concentrate in a cafe, I don't like coffee (though thumbs up for coffee ice cream), and turtlenecks make me feel partially strangled.
