Filed under: Raiders, AFC West, NFL FansOn this morning's Sunday NFL Countdown, Chris Mortensen is reporting that Daunte Culpepper will start the next two games (against the Vikes and Chiefs) and save any "lights out" performances (been waiting for one of those all season), head coach Lane Kiffin will give the reigns over to the rookie, JaMarcus Russell. That means that Russell will likely get his first start on December 2 against the Broncos, and if all goes well, he'll play out the remainder of the season. That'll give him five starts in 2007, and although it might not seem like much, it could mean the difference between struggling now, and struggling for the first month of '08. On a Raiders team that has very little margin for error, growing pains at 2-7 sounds much more attractive than at 0-0. Mortensen also reports that the "lights came on a few weeks ago" for Russell, and he's in great shape.
