1330 Boylston–Out of Place |

I walked through the Fenway area again today and I felt the new building at 1330 Boylston was even more out of place than I did the last time I talked about it–too tall and its design doesn’t go with the neighborhood. I also found it to be ugly. Ah well, I’m sure, given the ‘respect’ Mayor Menino has for zoning rules, it won’t be out of place in the future (Menino sure does like tall things). As a comparison, here’s a picture our zoning group came up with what we wanted: Boylston Street Vision Notice the 6 story buildings (we were fine if they went up to 8 stories with a set back if they included community amenities). I would rather have the parking lots than this new building. At least there would be a chance that something more appropriate would be built in the future and this will inevitably lead to more tall buildings in the future (as the Trilogy building down the street led to this one).
