Curtis Martin Retires; Michael Strahan Considers Doing the Same |

Former New York Jets running back Curtis Martin officially announced his retirement, ending the future Hall of Famer’s 12 year career. In 168 games, Curtis “my favorite Martin (as Chris Berman loved to call him) piled up 14, 101 rushing yards and scored 100 touchdowns while playing for the Patriots and Jets. In a season cut short to a right knee injury, 2005 was the only year that he did ot break the 1,000 rushing yard barrier. Thee five time Pro-Bowler did not play at all in 2006, but did not make the official retirement announcement until recently. Martin finished fourth on the all time rushing yard list behind Emmitt Smith, Walter Payton, and Barry Sanders, but never quite received the credit those three did. Martin wants to be part of a group ownership of a NFL team. This is the second star New York running back to retire, the first being Giants running back Tiki Barber, who retired in his prime.
