Darren McFadden used to be just a football player…now he’s a very rich football player. The Oakland Raiders and their eccentric owner Al Davis made Darren very rich by agreeing to pay him $60 million to carry the football for the next 6 years. It’s understood that Darren will have to carry the football well, otherwise he will not get the portion of that $60 million that is not guaranteed. The Raiders moved swiftly to sign McFadden, perhaps thinking of last year’s situation, where #1 draft pick JaMarcus Russell held out. Or maybe the Raiders just like spending money. They’re like the women on Sex and the City…they enjoy a good shopping spree. But instead of shoes and naughty underwear, they buy football players (and sometimes naughty underwear).
