JIM REEVES I bring you no hope.None.Nada.Zilch.The Dallas Mavericks will not find what they need in today’s NBA Draft. For them, it will mostly be an exercise in futility, no matter how many times Mark Cuban and Donnie Nelson cross their fingers and tell you otherwise.As Exhibit A, I give you Vassilis Spanoulis.Not good enough?OK, take Mladen Sekularac and Renaldas Seibutis, too.The Mavs once did.And if you don’t recognize those names, there’s a reason for that. They’re all former Mavs draft picks, taken at around the same point in the draft that Dallas will pick today at No. 51.Crapshoots, in other words.No, worse than that. Finding an even halfway decent player today that deep in the second round would be more like hitting the lottery. It always happens to someone else.The Mavs selected Spanoulis with the 50th pick in 2004. Seibutis was the 50th pick this time last year.
