Filed under: NFL Media WatchIn a move that everyone has seen coming since his departure as Monday Night Football analyst, ESPN has officially severed ties with Joe Theismann. The news comes from Pro Football Talk, which reports that ESPN's official statement is: "We have reached a settlement with Joe Theismann to end his association with ESPN. We thank Joe for his many years of work for us and wish him well."Theismann lost his job as Monday Night Football commentator when ESPN decided to team Ron Jaworski with Mike Tirico and Tony Kornheiser. The addition of Jaworski and subtraction of Theismann has been almost universally labeled a major improvement. So where does Theismann go from here? I don't see any of the other outlets that have NFL games -- NBC, CBS, Fox, NFL Network -- hiring him, so he'll probably either move to college football or do local work in the Washington, D.C. area. Kind of a step down from Monday Night Football.Permalink Email this Comments [ Full article ] |
