Take a look at this story, which reports on a study that seems to show that daycare and contact with other children in early childhood offer kids a protective effect against later development of childhood leukemia. Take note, parents. Maybe all those ear infections and runny noses are worth it. (I wonder if places like Gymboree, which offer classes for newborns up, will start advertising themselves as cancer preventatives!) Interesting too how in so many areas, including many cancers, we're moving to a bacterial model, which sounded absurd only a decade or so ago. [ Full article ] |
