Whether there are four preseason games or two, NFL players will continue to have their season end before it began with crippling injuries. There's no sense complaining about the number of scrimmages. If we reduce the number, the starters will simply play more in those games to get prepared, and with that comes an inevitable part of football. This preseason's worst victim is the New York Giants who lost Osi Umenyiora to a season ending knee injury on Saturday night. Umenyiora wasn't expected to make up for the loss of Michael Strahan to retirement all by himself, but coupled with Justin Tuck he still gave the defending Super Bowl Championship Giants a reason to believe their defense would still be able pass rush effectively.
