So former Hillary Clinton flack and newly minted Fox News contributor Howard Wolfson takes the next obvious step and joins the New Republican as a blogger. Whatever. That part is just barely noteworthy. What was more interesting was editor Franklin Foer's explanation of the hire: The Flack aims to pull back the curtain on the dark art of the political operative. As Howard dishes out his punditry, he'll try to explain how the likes of Axelrod and Schmidt might work through their calculations. He's a natural blogger--down to the stubble, that sweater, and the indie rock obsession. No wonder the New Republic continues to bleed circulation. Its editor thinks shaving habits, wardrobe, and a person's iPod playlist are somehow relevant to providing a product people actually want to read. [ Full article ] |
