New York Soldier Killed in Battle |

An American soldier from Queens Village, N.Y., was killed in Afghanistan on October 29 by an improvised explosive device that detonated while he was on a reconnaissance patrol in the southern Afghan city of Kajaki, the Department of Defense announced yesterday. Jeffrey Calero, 34, was a member of the elite Green Beret unit within the Army National Guard and was based in Springfield, Mass.
