This just in. Atlanta and Matt Ryan are having open contract talks. Ryan, Atlanta’s first round draft pick, and 3rd overall selection, was a much heralded athlete at Boston College. Having thrown for over 4,000 yards and 31 touchdowns his senior year, he was a surefire top ten pick. While Ryan may be the first 1st round pick to sign, many speculate this COULD turn to be another JaMarcus Russell type of situation. Last year Russell wasn’t signed until September, as a result he missed valuable practice time during the summer camps. They (Atlanta) have to get these negotiations under way to avoid that mess. The next quarterback taken was Joe Flacco to the Ravens. He has also started contract negotiations and scheduled a meeting TODAY to go over some of the terms.
