A good overall way to reduce general anxiety and improve low mood is to get a decent night’s sleep. We all know that the amount of sleep you get impacts both mood and energy; sleeping too little or too much can have very negative effects both in short and long term. In some people anxiety can effect how well you sleep, and medication used to reduce anxiety can sometimes have a stimulant effect making it difficult to fall asleep and stay asleep. The optimum amount of sleep for most people is around 8-9 hours, though we can cope with much less (as I’m sure you know, we all like to burn the candle at both ends) this effects our concentration, mood, frame of mind…everything!
