Update: Remy Ma Gets 8 Years Behind Bars For Shooting, Papoose Looses His Lid |

Bronx rapper Remy Ma was today (May 13) sentenced to 8 years in prison for shooting a woman outside a Manhattan nightspot last year. As reported earlier, Remy was convicted by a Manhattan jury in March on charges of assault, weapons possession and attempted coercion for shooting Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the abdomen. The shooting occurred while the two women were arguing over money that Remy claimed was taken from her purse by Barnes-Joseph. According to The Associated Press, Remy was teary eyed when the sentence was handed down to her. The rapper plans to appeal the verdict. Remy's fianc , fellow rapper Papoose, reportedly exchanged hard looks and harsh words with Barnes-Joseph in a hallway in the courtroom after the sentencing and had to be restrained by his entourage. Court officials would usher Papoose out of the court room.
